Jónsi is celebrating the beauty of the male here, in a liberating way. We need to recognize how beautiful men can be sometimes. Is it gay? Hell yes it is- does that scare you, you dumb fuck? Tell me what’s wrong with that. Tell me what’s wrong with emotion and affection. Tell me what’s wrong with kindness, and fondness and beauty. Tell me what’s wrong with celebrating yourself- not to the detriment of others, but for their inclusion, engagement and enticement. Yes, this is gay, but it’s straight too. It’s human, and it’s beautiful. I don’t think all art needs to be beautiful- quite the contrary, in fact. But celebrations of beauty, male female or something in-between should be reveled in and savored. The grandness of soul gets even bigger.
